The SPACE City Panel is a research panel representing Greater Houston area residents. As the nation’s fourth-largest city, Houston offers a unique perspective into how people respond to today’s most pressing issues. SPACE City Panel delivers timely, reliable data to inform policymakers, organizations, business leaders and the public – helping strengthen Houston-area communities.

The survey will ask you a few questions about community issues facing residents of the Houston area and invite you to join the SPACE City Panel. If you are eligible and choose to join the panel, you will be invited to complete future surveys to share your opinions on a variety of Houston-related topics. The information collected will be used to evaluate services and programs, assess needs, and inform decision-makers about how to best plan and support the Houston community.

• The survey and panel membership is completely voluntary – you can choose whether to participate.
• You can skip any question you wish.
• The survey may take about 15 minutes to complete.
• You can complete it in more than one sitting if you would like to take a break.
• You must be at least 18 years old and live in the Houston area.
• The survey should be completed only once for your whole household.

This survey is being conducted by a partnership between:

• NORC at the University of Chicago

This is a chance for you to be part of an important research initiative and for your voice to be heard.

Participation is easy. You can take the survey from a desktop or laptop computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access.

In the box at the top of this page, enter the unique PIN from the letter or email we sent you.

We randomly selected your address from all home addresses in the Houston area. This means that when you join the panel, you represent hundreds of other Houston area residents like you. When all completed surveys are combined, they represent a snapshot of all Houston area households.

All information is kept in password-protected files. These files are only available to the research teams at NORC and the Center for Public Policy at the University of Houston. The files will not be released to any outside organization.

We take all possible steps to protect your privacy and will use your answers only for statistical research. Your responses will be kept strictly confidential. We will never share your personally identifiable information without your permission. We will not sell your contact information or use it to sell things or services to you.

After joining the panel, we will send you your choice of reward. In the survey, if you choose Amazon or Walmart eGift Cards or a virtual Mastercard Reward card, it will arrive via email to the email address you provide. If you select a physical Mastercard Reward card, it will be mailed to the mailing address you provide.
